A guide to Bergerac

Bergerac is a beautiful town on the river Dordogne, well worth spending a morning or afternoon there to explore. So here is our guide to Bergerac, for when you’re staying at Le Mas & Le Mazet!

Dordonha museum in Bergerac

Spend half an hour at Dordonha, a new small museum in the centre which tells the story of the town from prehistoric man to the present day. We think it’s well worth a visit, and it has an exhibition space in it as well and a fab courtyard.

Then go onto two great concept stores which are fun to have a look at @peninsule_conceptstore and @le_monde_de_zofia. The market is at the top of the town on a Saturday morning.

End up at @quaicyrano for Bergerac wines and nibbles, on the roof terrace overlooking the port, from where Bergerac wines were transported all over Europe.

If you want to eat, we suggest that you go to Bistro d’en Face for lunch (or dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings) or to L’Imparfait.

Bergerac is a good transport hub with a train going to Bordeaux and Sarlat, and an airport with regular flights to the UK and the Netherlands.
