Even with rainy weather and a late spring (no cuckoos yet, nor any swallows in the Monpazier market square), the grandkids swam in the pool almost every day, and we had great rambles in the countryside. Rupert and Franck recommended a couple of bastides we had not visited, Belves and Villereal, and we happily revisited the peacocks, mazes, and Dordogne river vistas in the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac. As always, a comfortable house with enough space to spread out and have a quiet moment, balanced by the big kitchen / dining / fireplace room as a great place to gather. Thanks for a lovely stay! When you are dreaming of an ideal stay for your vacation, you are probably imagining something like Le Mas et le Mazet without even knowing that such a place actually exists in France! Set in the striking countryside of Dordogne, close to quaint villages and (pre)history-packed areas, Le Mas et le Mazet offer the rare combination of relaxed yet stylish stay in nature with all the comforts, privacy, and the warmest accommodating, but discreet hosting one could possibly imagine. This comes from the fabulous owners, Rupert and Franck. Besides the unique setting and services that they offer, their detailed and knowledgeable recommendations about how best to navigate one's self in the region of Dordogne help make the best of one's travel time with respect to one's desires. Their professionalism and reliability turns the planning and transactional experience into a stress-free, smooth operation. We spent one of our best vacation weeks at le Mazet and that was enough to make us consider it one of our most beloved destinations for the future. Cannot recommend it highly enough! We have just come back from the most amazing time at Le Mas. A mixture of friends and family to celebrate a ‘special’ birthday - everything exceeded my expectations! Rupert and Franck are the perfect hosts, discreet, but welcoming and always available to answer any questions, or to give advice. The house and facilities are excellent, clean and tastefully furnished, with every detail carefully thought through to ensure that guests have a luxurious and well equipped stay. Everything on the outside equally matched the interior, the beautiful heated pool with parasols and loungers - yes, we swam every day during our stay and it was only April! We used the outdoor kitchen and terrace when it was warm enough for lunch, or apéro overlooking the pool, the wonderfully kept grounds and the magnificent views stretching beyond - just idyllic! Table tennis was played everyday, which the eighteen year old in our party loved, so much so that we didn’t get a chance to play pétanque! A car is most definitely necessary to visit everything the area has to offer, but all easily accessible within a short drive - picturesque towns and villages, markets and chateaux. There is so much to choose from, we only managed to scratch the surface, another reason to return. The ‘cherry on top of the cake’ was having the private chef Didier create the most delicious dinner for my birthday. The presentation and flavour of my chosen menu was exceptional, paired with fantastic wines from the region. Didier is a master at what he does, so professional with a wonderful personality too. Le Mas and Le Mazet has so much to offer, there is something for everyone regardless of age, wants, or needs. The perfect place to create long lasting memories. As always, we were warmly welcomed by a crackling fire, twinkling Christmas lights, mistletoe above the door and the faultless hospitality of our hosts, Rupert and Franck. The property and surrounding area are just beautiful in the winter, when peace and tranquility reign. Days spent exploring local walks and sleepy villages, evenings reading in front of the fire, accompanied by a glass or two of local wine. And the deepest of sleeps in the incredibly cosy Le Mazet bed! Pure bliss! Roche Denholm4 November 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. When I first saw the video of Le Mas et Le Mazet online it evoked such an emotional reaction in me that I cried. It looked enchanting, beautiful and peaceful and I just had to book. We stayed for a week in October and I am so grateful we did. Everything about the house, location and holiday was just wonderful, we couldn’t have asked for more. Rupert and Franck are on hand for questions/ directions/ recommendations- anything you need really- which puts you completely at ease knowing you are taken care of. Don’t hesitate to book, you won’t regret it Xx Andrew Bernhardt15 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We took our whole family to the Le Mas and Mazet and had a throughly excellent time from start to finish. The facilities available are second to none and Rupert and Frank went out of their way to ensure our family time together was extra special. Their recommended private chef Didier is also worth considering if you want an extra special evening as we did on one occasion - the food was amazing. Lots of lovely local places to visit to keep all ages entertained. Brian Bohling11 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I really enjoyed my stay at Le Mazet. It was very comfortable and provided everything I wanted. It is located in a very quiet attractive area near to some beautiful places to visit like Monpazier and Bergerac. The owners Rupert and Frank were extremely welcoming and helpful. I would unreservedly recommend Le Mazet as a great place to stay and explore the Dordogne region Annabel Berridge25 August 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have just returned from the most wonderful week at Le Mas and Le Mazet. It's not that we were trying to but we could not find one single fault. Rupert and Franck have clearly thought of everything - the beds are exceptionally comfortable, their restoration is remarkable, every angle and viewpoint is carefully considered and the views and pool are epic (I could go on and on). If you are looking for a relaxing haven amongst fascinating, beautiful countryside and with impeccable hosts then look no further. Jane Schmitz7 July 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are an American family of four (boys ages 10 and 12) and we had an absolute dream two weeks at Le Mas. We both took time to enjoy the house and the pool and grounds but also ventured out for tours of gardens and castles as well as did a lot of biking and a day of canoeing. Ruper and Franck have created the most beautiful and most hospitable experience. And the region is non stop interesting; with every turn in the road is another charming home or picturesque view of hilly farmland or forest nook. We would definitely return and I knew it from the minute that we stepped out of the car and took in the view of Le Mas and countryside beyond. ** A highlight was Chef Didier preparing us a dinner at Le Mas on my birthday. **Load more
